  • Yep to be expecting the Marc Webb/Andrew Garfield sequel to the Amazing Spiderman is the worst one. This is also arguably the worst Spiderman movie. For me the movie was just a bit of a mess, I was never too big on Andrew Garfield's Spiderman, he could do an ok Spiderman but his Peter Parker was a bit lacking and maybe a bit to close to his Spiderman persona. This movie also has a villain issue, with Electro being well a mixed bag, fun at times but a bit too over the top at others. I think this series had a bit of an identity crisis wanting to get away from the Sam Raimi movies, while trying to keep up with the MCU and being in the shadow of Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight. Garfield and Emma Stone's Gwen Stacy had good chemistry and elements of this were a bit more grounded such as the suit but everything else kind of sucked and Sony got really lucky when Marvel gave them a lifeline to the MCU. Not the worst movie in the worst but probably the worst Spiderman.

#2 Spiderman Far From Home

  • Really good Spiderman Sequel that balances it identity as a follow up to Endgame while being a sequel to Homecoming. Generally speaking everyone back in the movie has upped their game and it’s a good follow up with Peter losing a farther figure in Tony, struggling with the mantle of being a super hero and just trying to be a regular (well somewhat regular) teenager. Spiderman is typically the most relatable hero and even in these circumstances  Peter Parker is very relatable and still has a lot of those mundane problems. One of the big strong points about this movie is its villain, he's super weird and the stuff he does could be lifted straight from the pages of a comic book. The main thing with Far from home is that it works and everything comes together in a story that is about Peter Parka and his trials and tribulations as Spiderman.

#1 Spiderman 2

  • The original Spiderman Sequel and still the best Spiderman Movie, Spiderman 2 has it all. A sympathetic story, an amazing sympathetic villain who is a dark mirror of Spiderman, iconic moments, amazing action. Its grounded, its focused its true to its source material and its still the best. While a bit old and some things are a bit out dated Spiderman 2 still really holds up and is still a class above most comic book movies. My favorite scene is the train scene where Peter stops the train and is seen by the passengers. It evokes many of themes of Spiderman with the selfless act, the people recognizing that Spiderman is just some guy, the people standing up for him, even the general NYC train setting. Everything about this movie clicks and while it has been surpassed in some ways but other comic book movies they would not have gotten where they are if it were not for Sam Raimi's Spiderman Trilogy and especially Spiderman 2.

It was pretty obvious what was going to be number one but with a sequel coming to Spiderman into the Spiderverse and maybe some Miles Morales live action movies coming one day you never know Spiderman 2 2004 could be dethroned.
